We All Deserves Happiness - A Single Guy Perspective

Posted by Kris | Sunday, November 08, 2015 | , | 1 comments »

Simple Truth But Often Overlooked

Among the most popular topics that I have everytime I have a coffechat with my close friends is the following:

1. When are you going to find a girlfriend/life partner?

Well, I think this is a normal question posed especially married friends to single people they know of (I think they secretly wants you to feel the pain joy of marriage. I still think that you need to be mentally & financially prepared as you step down the aisle and take up heavy responsibilities. Being single can be fun too!. There is no harm of being single.)

The next question/comment is the one that really PISSED me off and got me to write this post.

A Girl Wants to Die.A Guy Wants to Love

Posted by Kris | Sunday, August 09, 2015 | , | 0 comments »

Saw this interesting title while browsing thru my youtube feeds. It is a music video for a Thai movie. I always find that Thai movie storylines is always very unique and not the usual out of the mill story. I bet many of you have seen very simple, thought-provoking videos and heart touching short films/movie produced by theThais. They are really a very creative lot.

In typical movies/k-drama, we used to seeing a girl/woman waiting for his dream man to come to his senses and waiting for him to pick and sweep her feet off. Women are typically viewed as more persistant and willing to wait/sacrifice for his dream man( in the context of brainwash by countless kdrama/movie etc)

Now, in this movie "A Girl Wants to Die.A Guy Wants to Love", the gender role is reversed aka a guy waits for his dream girl.

Sometimes, regardless of what you do to please he/she, it is just not enough and it is time to let it go and move on. Time is price-less and there is alot of fishes in the sea. **cough cough, **speaking from personal experience**cough cough **

How long can you wait for the one you really love... a month, a year or your whole life? Do you know for sure if the one you're waiting for will finally come to you?

Song : Deficient Love

Based from the MV, the ending is not a happy ending for the "guy that wants to love" .Maybe he should have ignored the girl in the first place which would mean that she probably died?? It is arguable and I have no clear cut answer to it as an audience, but I guess he really loves her because it is a truly a big sacrifice physically and emotionally to try to heal someone's broken heart in the first place.

Another Weekend Coincidence

Just Passing By
One fine weekend, me and my friend decided to go round round at town area. After our lunch, both of us were tired but did not want to go back home as we were both lazy to do work on a weekend. I actually wanted to go home already as I was tired after last night's football match, but I gave in to my friend's request to go explore explore.

My Family

Spectacles make people look smart?!

My close friend always criticize me for the choice of woman that I pursue. He definitely know my type.

Yes, from the title post and the picture, I find smart woman very attractive. The reason of my friends contend:

  • Never find a smart woman because they are hard to handle & demanding and men should prefer "obedient" woman as life partners to avoid hassles of married life.

Don't Wait For The Stars To Aligned, Make Them Aligned

Posted by Kris | Friday, January 03, 2014 | , | 0 comments »

Star Origami that I made

There is a proverb "Waiting for the stars to aligned" which means a time consuming wait to wait everything perfectly falling into sequence before executing some tasks.

If you study probability in school, the way to find the final probability for a series of event that aligned together  can be generalized as follows;

Final probability of event A,B,C happening together = (probability of event A happening) * (probability of event C happening)  * (probability of event C happening)

So imagine the probability of event A occuring is 1 in 10 or 1/10 = 0.1.

And probability of event B & C is also 0.1,

Hence the probability of the "stars" getting aligned is 0.1 * 0.1 * 0.1 = 0.001!! which is 1/1000!!

So now you  know why does the proverb ring true; waiting for the stars to aligned can be daunting and a long wait.

Hence in life, you don't want to wait until all the stars to get aligned before doing something to change your life. (probability is damn low) For example, waiting for an opportunity given by someone to start a business venture, and accepting it after you have sufficient money, etc or waiting for someone to ask you to be a partner (either business or life).

Instead of waiting for the stars aligned aka staying stationary to observes the stars, try moving your head and body around; up to a point, you will eventually find a angle where all the stars do really aligned in your visual range. That is my crux of my argument.

Should You Reveal Your NetWorth $$$ To Others?

Posted by Kris | Thursday, June 21, 2012 | , | 2 comments »

During a long time ago tweet chat with @ChampDog, we discussed about whether an average person should reveal one's networth to other people particularly stranger or even friends. Wives are excluded from the discussion, as it is highly unavoidable in these modern times.

For @ChampDog, his answer is a NO. He feels uncomfortable to do so. Well, I do agree with him.

However, here are my thoughts on the 2 side of the coin: (Thinking from the mindset of a guy). For female readers, just reverse some of the conditions.

For the side of "YAY"

1. A guy would like to reveal his net-worth if it can use it to impress people especially girls!

Okey, this condition is where a guy is not using this head to do the thinking but his nether regions. Hence, to impress a hot chick, a guy would be willingly reveal or even brag about the number of properties, cars, stocks, etc that he owned/invest. Some even will go so far as to lie about it. :)

To be fair, sometimes girls do ask the following probing question to gauge a guy's financial standing.

a) So you been working for quite some time in XXX company, so are you a manager now? senior executive, etc
b) Where do you live? Are you renting or owning it.
c) I heard that you have a high salary, etc. Not bad ah?

Fellow hot blooded males, how do you plan to answer these types of probing questions?

2. A person will showcase his wealth/networth if this is needed to maintain appearance of success.

This condition occurs especially, a person needs to showcase his success in a certain field to attract a following. Example, that you always will see is that certain speakers will always say the following:

a) I am earning RM10K per month just by doing this xxx. I can teach you how to earn RM10K just like me.
b) Here are my bank account transactions as proof that doing this xxx strategy it is possible to earn alot of easy money.

Sometimes, IMHO, these sale pitches & claims can be very unbelievable. In this practical world, sometimes a win-win situation can be self-deceiving aka NOT everyone can win and make money.

Sometimes, for personal preference or work environment reasons, people splurge on expensive luxury items and cars just to keep up with the Joneses. Meanwhile, they stay highly in debt and stay in a simple housing conditions.

Of course, there are also people that genuinely very rich :)

In short, there is nothing wrong to showcases or even flaunt your wealth. It is up to each individual  to do so . It is their right to do so if they wish to do so.

For the side of "NAY"

1. A person is reluctant because of the fear of the symbol below:

This is especially true especially if a person always undeclared his/her business income. LOL.

Somewhat "urban legend" that we always hear once in a while where these guys go audit a famous "Char Kueh Tiau" seller because he owns multiple properties.

2. A person is reluctant because of the fear of being target of kidnapping, ransom, etc.

The richer you are the more locks and security camera that you will want to install in your house. So the appearance of being rich can make you an easy target.

3. A person is reluctant because of the fear of leeched by "parasites"

Parasites here are people who want to be with you when fortune smiles upon and as quickly as they come , they disappears when misfortune befalls. These group of people are not true friends, but being human as we are , we sometimes are not able/blinded to look through these human chameleons.

What do you you guys/gals think about this blog post? Would You Reveal Your NetWorth $$$ To Others? Hope to hear some comments on this.

All That Glitter Is Not Gold: Fools' Gold

Posted by Kris | Monday, October 19, 2009 | , , | 0 comments »

All that glitter is may not be gold. Thus, in our pursue of choosing the right stock or funds, we tend to chase those hot & controversial types. 1/10 times , these pursue bears fruit and you got a rare and valuable gem. But unfortunately, as similar to real life 9/10 times , it turn out to be FOOLS' GOLD. By chasing these hot stocks/funds, we waste our valuable capital, resource, energy hoping that it will bloom into a beautiful flower.

Thus, we missed the boat to put our energies into something more productive. This is called MISSED OPPORTUNITIES. Nevertheless, it is better for us to open our eyes wide to look for the hidden gems lying in the stock market universe. We should never bound ourselves up on a single stock that has not proven itself. This is called "BLINDNESS".

Once a hidden gem is discovered, we should pour resources into it so that our wealth can grow with each polishing on the uncut gem. An uncut gem may not be shining brightly than a fools' gold but the beauty lies underneath. I think i may just found a hidden gem. Now, time will tell whether i am able to bring out the true beauty in it...It been rejected before by those that does not appreciate it..Woot!!

With the DJIA rising over 10,000 points and our beloved KLCI reaching new yearly high, it is imperative for me to not chase the stocks and got whacked by the GREATER FOOL THEORY. I will stay put with my hidden gem =)

Good Life Anecdotes

Some interesting anecdote that i received.

Written By Regina Brett, 90 years old, of The Plain Dealer, Cleveland , Ohio "To celebrate growing older, I once wrote the 45 lessons life taught me. It is the most-requested column I've ever written.
My odometer rolled over to 90 in August, so here is the column once more: "

1. Life isn't fair, but it's still good.
2. When in doubt, just take the next small step.
3. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone.
4. Your job won't take care of you when you are sick. Your friends and parents will. Stay in touch.
5.. Pay off your credit cards every month.
6. You don't have to win every argument. Agree to disagree.
7. Cry with someone. It's more healing than crying alone.
8. It's OK to get angry with God. He can take it.
9. Save for retirement starting with your first paycheck.
10. When it comes to chocolate, resistance is futile.
11. Make peace with your past so it won't screw up the present..
12. It's OK to let your children see you cry.
13. Don't compare your life to others. You have no idea what their journey is all about.
14. If a relationship has to be a secret, you shouldn't be in it.
15. Everything can change in the blink of an eye. But don't worry; God never blinks.
16. Take a deep breath. It calms the mind.
17. Get rid of anything that isn't useful, beautiful or joyful.
18. Whatever doesn't kill you really does make you stronger.
19. It's never too late to have a happy childhood. But the second one is up to you and no one else.
20. When it comes to going after what you love in life, don't take no for an answer.
21. Burn the candles, use the nice sheets, wear the fancy lingerie. Don't save it for a special occasion. Today is special.
22. Over prepare, then go with the flow.
23. Be eccentric now. Don't wait for old age to wear purple.
24. The most important sex organ is the brain.
25. No one is in charge of your happiness but you.
26. Frame every so-called disaster with these words 'In five years, will this matter?'
27. Always choose life.
28. Forgive everyone everything.
29. What other people think of you is none of your business.
30. Time heals almost everything. Give time time.
31. However good or bad a situation is, it will change.
32. Don't take yourself so seriously. No one else does.
33. Believe in miracles.
34. God loves you because of who God is, not because of anything you did or didn't do.
35. Don't audit life. Show up and make the most of it now.
36. Growing old beats the alternative -- dying young.
37. Your children get only one childhood.
38. All that truly matters in the end is that you loved.
39. Get outside every day. Miracles are waiting everywhere.
40. If we all threw our problems in a pile and saw everyone else's,we'd grab ours back.
41. Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need.
42. The best is yet to come.
43. No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up.
44. Yield.
45. Life isn't tied with a bow, but it's still a gift."

Its estimated 93% won't forward this. If you are one of the 7% who
will, forward this with the title '7%'.
I'm in the 7%.

Remember that I will always share my spoon with you!

Friends are the family that we choose for ourselves

Natural Moves - The Art Of Finesse

Posted by Kris | Monday, August 17, 2009 | , | 0 comments »

Today, I realized something that separates between an expert and a novice during a sport match. "NATURALNESS"

An expert exhibits naturalness when executing his/her moves thus minimizing the energy usage while maximizing their full power. Every movement is precise.

A novice does the opposite, thus end up losing and wearing themselves out.

Naturalness is a theme I learned during my early years a chess player but i did not realized until today. Good chess moves usually is very natural and looked very very common sense. It may not be a sharp positional play but because of its naturalness, the position exhibits power in agility and mobility.

Something similar like sports, where every kick, tee off requires finesse to execute perfectly.

How to gain "Naturalness"? Hmm..talent is one thing..The most important thing is hardwork!! Pure Hardwork ;to gain the instinct to perform excellently without much effort, thus the theme.

P.S I am not deviating from being a financial blogger. LOL. I just getting more philosophical lately..Perhaps this an indication that i am growing much much older or whether i should get a doctorate in philosophy as i believe i can really write a book on philosophy of life if i want to :P
