ItradeCIMB Integrated International Stock Brokerage Trading Platform

CIMB bank's ItradeCIMB has gone international by offering access into 6 stock exchanges on a single platform using a single ID. Kudos to the local brokerage firm to ease our lives. International stock trading platform is not new to Malaysia just that CIMB took the next logical step to integrate all these 6 exchanges into a single platform.

That is why I always stressed that CIMB bank is one of the local BIG banks that really invest heavily into their IT systems. Just look at CIMBCLICKs and compared to Public Bank online system. (online banking, brokerage, and even mobile banking). IMHO, I think that CIMB has clearly outpaced Public Bank on all fronts in the IT arena.

Here are the brief overview:
  • The convenience of One ID login for access to six exchanges, namely Bursa Malaysia Securities (Bursa Malaysia), Singapore Exchange (SGX), Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing (HKEx), New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), National Association of Securities Dealers Automated Quotations (NASDAQ) and American Stock Exchange (AMEX).
  • A single trading limit for six stock exchanges.
  • Availability to select trade settlements in MYR or Foreign Traded Currencies at the point of trade execution at the Order Pad, with indicative foreign currencies exchange rates readily displayed for your convenience.
  • Allowing the trade and management of your trading account in real time from anywhere in the world.
  • Higher purchasing power of up to 3 times multiple on cash and 2 times multiple on share value pledged as collateral, including selected foreign shares.
  • Real-time portfolio management and client summary.
  • Availability of Good-Till-Date trading feature.
  • Availability of real-time market data subscription for foreign shares.
  • Exclusive access to CIMB Research website with comprehensive coverage of regional equities, economics and fix income reports.

Some of my observations on CIMB's Itrade new services.

1.One thing that is not well spelt out on the CIMB Itrade website is the brokerage fees involved when buying stocks in these international markets. I guess we just need to walk to the nearest CIMB branch and ask for more info.

2. You cannot trade on options either call and put options which is a NORM for most US online stock brokerage firms. Having said that, you cannot also write options. P.S options also means warrant for those that did not know. Bursa only have call warrants :( and the writers are institutional brokers.

3. You cannot "SHORT" a stock particularly the US exchanges hence you cannot profit bear markets Hence this is a bummer for me as I do want to earn & profit regardless of where the stock market is heading to. And with the talk of a double dip, being able to SHORT can be very lucrative. (either thru stocks or options)

For those that like to take the risk and profit from the soaring price of GOLD and SILVER, you can do so on this  new ItradeCIMB platform as these two precious metals are listed on the NYSE.
