IPad Can Be Claimed For Malaysian Tax Rebate

Did you know that Ipad (tablet) is claimable under the RM3000 computer tax rebate?? (you can only claim this rebate every 3 years though)

However Iphone is NOT claimable.

The rationale is that Ipad is claimable because it is a computer/tablet that does not have any traditional phone call function. (that needs coverage station). Luckily Skype or other VOIP is not considered as a "phone call function".

Another thing is that Data Service Plan for smart phones is also subject to tax reduction relief up to RM500 under the broadband subscription relief!! besides the usual Streamyx.

I suppose it can if can't, I think will still claim it too. :D

Anyway, I just checked my ipad was bought in Jan 2011. So I will claim it next year. :)

Honestly RM500 is not much for broadband but better than nothing. :D

This year my tax is really a lot, kind of not that happy that able to run away from it where else some of rich are not even paying a single cents! :D

    ChampDog,

High tax also mean high income. At least it is better than low income :P

I am not sure if it is correct but most people will assume it is "qualified" for tax relief.

Anyone have the official source on the definition of "Personal Computer" for the purpose of tax relief RM3,000?

    Kong Hui,

I asked a LHDN senior officer when they are on a roadshow :P

As long as the tablet does not have phone call feature or sms, it is considered as personal computer. Hence Ipad and samsung galaxy also can be rebateable :P
